The pastry games

Compared with the average human being, I probably make pastry quite frequently. And as a general rule it turns out alright. Not this time...

A friend was visiting for lunch and I decided that instead of going out, I'd cook for her. Out came the pie cookbooks and I settled on a quiche.

Hmmm... All I can say is never, ever rush pastry making. I was in a bit of a hurry and misread/ignored the "let it rest in the fridge for 30mins" instruction. I cannot for the life of me remember if this was a conscious decision or the result of rushing too much.

The result...
Oh dear.

Seeing as I was already running late, I definitely didn't have time to start again. What to do?!

We went out for lunch.

P.S. That evening I had a lot more time on my hands and remade the pastry case. It can out much better and the final quiche wasn't bad either :)

Post hen-do exhaustion

What a weekend! I am so tired now - you can tell that I'm not used to late nights and partying any more. I am starting to feel my age!

As predicted, there was a lot of wedding chat. The married girls reminisced about their planning and big day, and us engaged gals discussed plans. Best friend is much further along than I am, having ordered wedding dress, booked photographer and flowers, and generally being much more organised.

Will be filling you in on a few ideas I had over the weekend, but for now I'm still catching up on sleep. In the meantime here's me and best friend looking glam for a night on the town:

Girlie Weekend

Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Hen Do!

Not mine of course - that would be way, way too organised seeing as we've got another year before our wedding. It's one of my old school friends who is getting married next month.

And there are a whole ton of bonuses to this:
  • I get to hang out with friends that I have known forever and hardly ever get to see.
  • I get to be all girlie and dress up for a night out.
  • I get to go dancing (which I practically never do).
  • and, most importantly, I get to chat "weddings" all weekend!
I'm even driving down to the event with my best friend whose bridesmaid I'm being in April. I haven't seen her since she came round in February with her wedding box (which was a very fun afternoon!). We will have soooooo much catching up to do, especially with the plans for our weddings. She's not as obsessed with the internet as I am so I'm not even sure if she's seen the blog. Chat chat chat chat chat!
