Lots of leaves but no fitter

We went walking again, this time in the Cotswolds. Which is much hillier than the New Forest. Much hillier.

And leafy - almost knee-deep!

The route we picked was 8 miles and involved a few contour lines. It was a beautiful not-at-all-like-November day and I was looking forward to a bit of a hike...

Well, it turns out that my last couple of months of skating, running regularly and generally trying to be fitter hasn't really had as much of an effect as I had hoped! I struggled soooo much on the hills, even when walking at a slow pace :(

On the bright side, it really was a beautiful day and we saw some lovely scenery. And we paused midway in a quaint little village for a pub lunch.

My garmin reckons the total ascent and descent was 3,000 ft...

That's a lot of leaves:) 3000 feet is a big ascent, don't feel bad about huffing and puffing your way up. Good job and great pics! Looks like a beautiful day.

That IS a big ascent. I didn't know you had windmills in England. Never thought about that I guess... beautiful scenery. Lucky you!

It was utterly gorgeous! And beautifully sunny. This week has been less nice - winter has kind of set in.
