Less internet, more relaxing

Sometimes I remember that there were days (only a couple of years ago) when I didn't access the internet everyday. I didn't have email on my phone. I didn't read tweets from famous people I'll never meet. And I was quite happy.

Now, I'm on Facebook, twitter and my RSS reader multiple times a day and, while I feel it does add to my life in some ways, it also takes away. I'm not reading as much as I used to (even though my kindle is full of books I want to read). I even pause conversations with people to check something on my phone. Not good.

Time to put the phone (and the laptop) down and enjoy actual real life a bit more!

I feel the same way sometimes. I'm trying to be more mindful of not using my iPhone to connect to FB, Twitter, Google Reader, my email, etc. But I'm also unemployed right now so I find myself spending a lot of time on the internet during the day, trying to job hunt, but I get distracted from all things social media ... ugh!

Always good advice. Sometimes I set the timer and force myself off the computer when it goes off. such a time suck!
