I want to be a runner

and I've no idea why.

I don't really like running that much; I definitely don't enjoy being on a run, except for that moment when you realise you can get to the end and the joy of actually finishing.

On top of that, I'm not one of those people who likes to "work through the pain". I've been getting sore knees recently and it's not exactly fun.

However, I seem to have decided that I am going to keep running and to try to get better at it. Why? Maybe it's because I keep reading these blogs by people who seem to really enjoy running (see Christy, Britt and Elle for examples!). Maybe it's part of me trying to develop a bit of grit and determination. Or maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment. Whatever it is, I'm not giving up yet...

Don't give up. You will get to the point where you enjoy it, I promise. It may take time, but it will come and once it does, you will never want to stop. Then you're in trouble:)Happy Running!

I am with hiker mom, just keep plugging away at it and then one day you will realize you CRAVE and you have to have it :)
I hope you learn to love it at least a little bit as much as I do. I find it kind of addicting really.

Thanks for the blog love :)

Lisa, love that picture of you. I agree with the above comments. I think you will learn to love it a little bit... and then a little more!

And thanks for the shout out on this post!

You guys all make running sound fantastic! And I do trust that it'll feel like that one day. I'm definitely not there yet though :(

It took me a long time to get to a place where I truly enjoyed running {years}. I think its different for everyone --- don't give up yet! I bet you'll get there when you least expect it :)

I'm not convinced, but then for me it's more about cycling. And not about competitions, or being the fastest/going the furthest/being the best... but just doing it. So that I can enjoy it.

I'm exactly like that too. I think the realisation of finishing and the satisfaction that comes along with it too, which means you like working to a goal.
